Complete a single-page affidavit
at the Embassy's American Citizen Services (ACS) Unit
The document is short and simple, includes all of the
information required by Thai law. After Completing the document,
it must be notarized by an Embassy consular officer.
You will need your passport at the time the document is
notarized, and you must pay a notarial services fee of $30 (or
Thai Baht equivalent) in cash.
If you have previously been married, you must
also complete a second, single-page affidavit. The notorial
service fee for this second affidavit is $20 (or Thai Baht
equivalent).
No appointment is needed and the entire process takes only a few
minutes.
- Have the completed affidavit translated into
Thai
- Have the completed affidavit and Thai-language
translation "legalized" by the Thai Government
There is a nominal charge for this service and the time
needed depends on the Thai officials' workload.
- Take the affidavit and supporting documents to
any Amphur office in Thailand With the
assistance of officials there, you may then legally register
your marriage. (If neither party speaks Thai, bring a
translator).
Please note that you must supply the following documents:
* Your passport
* If the other party is a Thai citizen, his/her Thai
identification card
* If either party is under the age of twenty, written
permission from the parents (with Thai translation)
* If either party has been married, officials may want to
see proof that the marriage has been terminated. Divorce
certificates or death certificates (with Thai
translations) should suffice.
