Married in Cancun
While most couples will opt for a classic
beach ceremony, there are other possibilites - like an elegant Mexican fiesta
with a garden or colonial hacienda. In the Mayan Riviera, both Xel-Ha
and Xcaret do weddings. Cancun draws fun-loving couples who want
round-the-clock options. A narrow island connected to the mainland by two
causeways, Cancun's 14 miles of powder-soft white-sand Caribbean beaches are
dotted by the pyramids, thatched-roof palapas and glass towers of the Zona
Hotelera (hotel zone). Here , at deluxe Hilton, Marriott, Ritz and Melia
resort properties, tranquility and romance reign. Meanwhile, across the
street, the restaurants, shops and disco of the "Party Zone" earn Cancun its
fun-city reputation. By day, couples can parasail, windsurf and rent small
boat to zip through a lagoon out to a sheltered reef for snorkeling as well
as swim with dolphins at the Interactive Aquarium Cancun and tour the Ruinas
del Rey archeological site.

The Riviera Maya, which stretches along the
mainland coast north and south of Cancun, is known for its growing
array of all-inclusive resort. Along this coast luxury can take on
rustic look at resorts such as El Dorado Maroma, where you can stay
in grass-roofed bungalows along the beach or in swim-up suites along
a lazy river leading to the pool. Many Riviera Maya resorts are
located in around Playa del Carmen, which offers great beaches and
charming, lively town center. Nearby Xcaret is a huge eco-tourism
theme park where couples can float down an underground river,
explore a re-created Mayan village, snorkel through a coral reef
teeming with marine life and swim with dolphins, then bask on the
beach before the evening diner show featuring Maya and Colonial
entertainment. Xel-Ha, an ecological park with great snorkeling, is
often combined with a visit to the archeological site at Tulum.
